One Big Infomercial For somebody that grew up reading National Geographic World (now NG Kids), Highlights for Children and MAD Magazine, picking up a kids magazine that is chock-full of commercials for TV shows, movies, records, etc. is very disappointing. There are enough ads on TV to expose your child to more of them in a magazine. <

>If you want to educate your little future consumer, then this is good for you. But, if you want him to pick up reading habits, then you could use comic books instead as a stepping stone. At least Batman is not trying to sell you something.
We love Nick magazine
My oldest son has been waiting for his subscription for a LONG time...We had originally ordered it a few months ago through his school and I think it got lost in the shuffle. I totally forgot about Amazon.com...THANK YOU, AMAZON!
Way too many ads, but a way to get kids to read
My 11 year old got a subscription as a birthday gift last year. Ordinarilly, We'd have to pull teeth to get him to read. However, he always reads this, and not just looks at the pictures. It's also been helpful in that it's encouraged more age-appropriate shows and such to him. (He's autistic, and we were having some problem pushing him out of his Winnie the pooh comfort zone) This was a painless way to encourage expansion. I must agree though, that are far too many ads in here for comfort.
