Customer Reviews of Natural Madison Toddler Bed
toddler bed I bought this bed for my 2 year old, to move him out of his crib. I helped my husband assemble it and it was pretty easy. I allowed my son to first get used to his bed by taking naps in it. I then transitioned him into it at night and he has done great. So far he hasn't woke up and got out of the bed or fell out of the bed. I think it's great b/c when he wakes up in the morning he can get up and play or look at his books. He doesn't have to wait for me to come into his room and let him out of his crib.
Attractive and Sturdy - Just Plan on Picking It Up In Person
The Madison Toddler Bed is a great transitional piece for the time when your baby is ready to move out of his/her crib. Its solid wood construction makes it both sturday and attractive. Its styling is gender-neutral and the color of its stain is neutral enough to match most nursery decors.

>SHIPPING WARNING
<
>I would strongly advise against ordering the bed to be shipped, i.e. if there is a Babies R Us store anywhere near you, go pick it up in person. Aside from the prohibitive shipping surcharge for this oversize item, its compact shipping box comes with almost no additional padding.

>I did pick mine up at the store only to bring it home, unpack it and find that it had already been damaged. When I dragged it back to the store (where they were very apologetic and helpful about the situation) for an exchange, they suggested we examine the contents of the replacement and sure enough, it was also damaged. Finally, the contents of the third box were fine and off I went.

>The box itself is roughly as wide as the bed, about a foot shorter than it, and six inches deep. I was able to fit it into the back of a midsize SUV without even folding any seats down.

>ASSEMBLY
<
>Assembly is straightforward, although there are a few steps which would be awkward without a helper. Nonetheless, I put ours together by myself in under an hour. No additional tools beyond the included allen wrench are needed.

<
>The trickiest step involves fitting the bottom slats into the two side rails. I suggest laying the bed on its side when doing this, fitting each slat in place one by one starting all the way at the end. Doing so leaves enough play in the slats that you can maneuver them around and into the track in the side rail with minimal difficulty. This method still required some patience during trial-and-error, but it worked well enough.

<
>UTILITY
<
>The bed uses a standard crib mattress, so you can keep the one with which your baby is already familiar. This should help the transition and also allow you to keep using the sheets you already have.
<

<
>The solid headboard gives the bed a very finished appearance. The partial side rails will help prevent rollaway accidents for fitful sleepers. There's still ample room on either side for baby to climb into (and out of) the bed.

nice sturdy bed, but a bit difficult to assemble
I got this bed for my 2 1/2 year old son. It's very sturdy and looks beautiful in his room. I think the stain is a bit darker than natural, but overall it's a nice finish. I put it together by myself, but it would have saved me some trouble if I had had someone help me. The slats caused me the most trouble as some of them were slightly warped and wouldn't cooperate going into their designated spots.
