Great game with only a couple dissapointing flaws I am really impressed with the direction nhl 08 has gone. The game has improved vastly from the 2007 ps2 version and even the 07 xbox 360 version. You can do virtually any move you want to (Except this one[..]) and you are in full command of whichever player you control. <

>I only have 3 minor complaints with nhl 08: 1) it rarely freezes in the menu (during online play) or exits out of 08 completely right after you finished a game in your dynasty without giving you a chance to save (although this is a positive thing when you just lost and aren't very happy about it). <
>2) there are a couple of glitches but they are relatively minor (ie the puck occassionally gets stuck at the side of the net and remains there for a short period of time no matter what you do. Eventually the puck goes back in play but it can be frustrating when your down by one at the end of a game). <

A solid game with a few major problems
I waited almost a year from buying my PS3 until this game came out. I had to endure NHL 2K7 which was riddled with bugs and suffered from poor online gameplay until now.

>At first blush, the game seems to good to be true. Despite that it runs at 30fps, it somehow doesn't look as bad as Madden 07 for the PS3 did. The graphics are clean and the menu system is responsive. The controls, although complicated, I feel will allow for a much richer hockey experience in the long run.

>Hitting the post: Every online game I have played in the past week has seen me hit the goalposts at least three times per game. This wouldn't be so bad if I was scoring 5-6 goals per game, but I'm not. I routinely get shut out or score only one goal, yet I almost always ring the post three times or more. I like to take wrist shots from the slot, a lot of other players prefer to deke or wiggle around for all their goals. I was hoping for a more realistic experience when it game to wrist/snap shots.

>Once every four or five times playing on line the controller locks up when I'm still in the start-up screen. I can't back out of the current screen or continue forward. Restarting the PS3 controller doesn't help -- I have to restart the system. Last night I was in an online game (I hit the post three times) that glitched every time the other team got the puck. It would stop the game and return to a face off at the same point on the game clock.

>The fun factor in this game decreases big time with things like these. The problems are fixable however. If they're made I would raise my fun factor rating to 4/5 stars.
