Customer Reviews of Mysteries From Beyond Earth
Another low budget '70s documentery goodie If you're a fan of those low budget documentaries that seemed to have reared its head from the mid to late 1970s, such of Overlords of the UFO, you might want to try Mysteries From Beyond Earth, which came out around 1975 or 1976. Again, you are treated with lots of cool grainy footage and the occasional psychedelic effect that look like it came right off 2001: A Space Odyssey. There's even stock footage, although not as much as Overlords of the UFO. They even stole footage from the Lost in Space TV series by using the scene where the Jupiter-2 crashes on an alien planet and they went and treated it like a UFO. I wondered if CBS knew that the makers of Mysteries from Beyond Earth stole Lost in Space footage? The content on Mysteries From Beyond Earth is not nearly as corny as Overlords of the UFO, as the content here seems more believable. Plus the production and editing is of higher quality, not so much of that "direct from movie projector to tape" look. No stories here how aliens from Ummo landed in Spain, no UFO footages that looked like it was dangling on a string. Even though this documentary is more believable than Overlords of the UFO, it still suffers the same fate of narrations that drone on longer than it needs to making it somewhat difficult to sit all the way through, but it's that wonderful '70s look and feel I love so much that makes up for the drawback. UFOs aren't the only subject covered here, but also psychic research, genetics, cloning, space exploration, the Hollow Earth Theory (which is by far the most corny and full of hot air subject covered here), cryogenics, Atlantis, ghosts and poltergeists, and even a little on witchcraft and Satanism. Mysteries From Beyond Earth was narrated by Lawrence Dobkin, who was an actor who appeared in such movies as Patton. It was written by Ralph and Judy Blum, and if I remember right, Ralph had written various books covering similar subjects that's found on this documentary. Mysteries From Beyond Earth, just like Overlords of the UFO is only recommended to people who love the low budget documentaries of the 1970s, but if you want perfection, go watch something on the Discovery Channel or TLC.
