Customer Reviews of Myst 10th Anniversary DVD Edition
A great package - minus Exile This very cheap package includes the two brilliant games of Myst and Riven. <

>Unfortunately Exile (the third myst) doesn't live up to its name. One should note that the original creators and designers of Myst did not create the third game, Exile. <
> <
>5 Stars for fun, becuase of MYST and riven <
> <
>4 Stars because Exile is crap.
Incredible! Excellent! Wonderful! PERFECT!!
I received this for my 12th Birthday and this is now my Favorite game series
<
>of ALL TIME OVERALL!! Beautiful Graphics! I LOVE IT! if you like first person-Shooter games, this may not be the game for you. I love the extra features! Works fine on Mac OS X. you may have installation problems with Riven. I love the price!
Excellent Packageing of an Old Classic
MYST is certainly a marvelously-engineered game, with near-seamless scrolling, careful attention to sounds and minor deviations in graphical terrain, and, for the most part, very logical puzzles. At its best, it is also highly immersive and addictive.

<
>The game does require meticulous note-taking however, especially if you leave the game for a few weeks and come back (Literally - I have an entire journal devoted to the MYST series, with my own diagrams, sketches taken from various puzzles and books, etc.). And while nearly all of the puzzles make sense, or can be addressed through trial and error, there are a few which contain a logical gap, where even when all the parts are in place, the puzzle's solution just isn't quite graspable. There are in-game hints, which are nice if you're really in a bind, but using the game's hint database makes it hard to have that feeling of accomplishment, and should thus be used sparingly.

<
>In addition, the game's format, namely a series of logic-driven puzzles, limits its replay factor. Yes, the graphics are exceptionally good for their time, and have weathered the ages well, but with all the puzzles done, there is little to do but wander through and enjoy the vistas.

>Nevertheless, this series played flawlessly on a Mac running OS 10.2.8 and Classic. Upgrading to Tiger, however, makes gameplay for the non-OSX-native games, MYST and Riven, nearly impossible.
