Period music played on V & A's own piano
This is a very pleasant collection of the type of music actually enjoyed by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Played on the Erard piano at Osborne House, the royal family's villa on the Isle of Wight, the pieces certainly evoke V & A's era. The Erard piano was selected by Albert himself, and still sits in the music room at Osborne House. (Exteriors of Osborne House were used in the filming of Mrs. Brown.) A particular treat are the works by Arthur Sullivan, who always wanted to be thought of as a serious composer, rather than simply half of Gilbert & Sullivan.
