Nice Eclectic and VERSATILE PIECE-did I mention inexpensive? This is a SUPER, SUPER! piece. Right price and everything I purchased from Target always gets to me within 3 or 4 days of the order. Oh, sure, I had a little trouble putting it together, as you need a partner to hold a rail while you put in the back 2 pieces,but I'm mechanically challenged so...once I put it on its side I did in in under a half hour. I don't like the distressed look, so I used a permanent black marker to touch it up.Someone could very easily touch the white up with another color to give the impression it was painted black over-red, say. I like the height on this piece. It was purchased to use as a cd storage cabinet but I can see it's not nearly as big as I need. But it's ok with me, it is such a VERSATILE piece, I'm going to use it as an end table in our country style living room. I bought it as a companion piece to the 2 cape-cod style black 48inch high bookcases too (see what Ihad to say about those). A little black color goes a long way in a country decor. We have soft butter yellow color on the walls and dark wine and sage green colors and wow, this new black furniture is an added pop of color our living room needed! If my bathroom was bigger I'd use one in there as we have a kind of primitive style going on. I could see this style in a bigger piece, say, an entertainment/wall shelf-hutch unit. I'd surely buy it. It's substantial and well made, and fits together nicely too, once you get the framing in. NOTE OF CAUTION--DO Watch out for the cam-lock screws, however, I sliced open a finger on a really rough edge of the screw. I checked them all after that, and about half of the 16 screws they provide had REAL ROUGH/ SHARP edges (from when they were cast and didn't come out of their molds cleanly). What would be ideal for me is a bedroom collection for my 8 yr old son's room. And get some of these headboards in a double-bed size-- please? Every time I see a nice boys set the headboards are twin size and he's going to get a double bed soon. Oh, and while I'm making a wish list, find a supplier to custom-design cd holders to fit your furniture--- plastic would be ok---baskets take too much room. I could fit a lot of cds in this piece if I had a cd-grid on the shelves. Easy to do, versatile, great price, here in 3-4 days, real wood and great color means I'm a satisfied customer. By the way, the Pottery Barn cabinet my brother has is VERY SIMILAR to this and we suspect they are from the same Taiwan factory as the directions were 100% duplicates! So, Target wins, again.
Better than expected!
I have been searching high and low for a black cabinet that I could use in a bathroom with no closet to store extra toilet paper, hand soap, guest towels, etc.. My mother-in-law saw this cabinet in the store and thought it would work well. Boy, was she right. Assembly was very easy... be very careful with the screws, though. One piece broke off the top on one of them. Fortunately, it didn't affect assembly. I am thrilled with this cabinet. It is a great piece for the price. I wish Target had a headboard in this style... I'd buy it in a heartbeat for my son's room. Don't hesitate to pick up this cabinet.
Easy to work with...
This piece looks great and is very sturdy and only took about 10 minutes to build. It was hard to find though, (they were sold out in every Target in San Diego so I had to order it online.)
