You play a soldier from a future in which the Nazis won World War II and now dominate the world. Going back in time, Terminator-style, to rewrite history and prevent the Nazi victory, you'll end up fighting enemies from the past and the future as you gun your way through the game's 21 levels.
For the most part, Mortyr's levels are exceptionally well designed--at least from an architectural perspective. The settings for each level are lavishly detailed, with vaulted ceilings and well-done lighting effects (except for some very bizarre colored lighting in certain areas, that is). Unfortunately, nice-looking buildings and rooms are about the only things Mortyr has going for it.
The sound effects in this game are terrible. Popgun-like noises for even the heaviest of weapons seriously diminishes the overall immersion factor. It's also very difficult to tell when you're being shot at or even when you've been shot, which is always a bad thing in games of this type. Also, the movement controls are often jerky and seem like an awkward fit for the nicely rendered backdrops. It's almost as if they overhauled the 3-D graphics engine but maintained the old Wolfenstein 3-D control scheme.
Basically, Mortyr is just another shooter that failed to take advantage of its interesting premise. --Michael E. Ryan
Pros:
- Hearkens back to Wolfenstein 3-D
- Some truly amazing 3-D architecture
- Less fun than Wolfenstein 3-D
- Poor 3-D models
- Terrible game play, sound effects, and movement

Customer Reviews of Mortyr (Jewel Case)
Mortyr - Just another Mortyr among all the horrible games Mortyr is not the fun entertaining game that one may think it to be. It is much like the Doom and Wolfenstein games. It falls short compared to No One Lives Forever, Aliens vs. Predator, Deus Ex, and Unreal Tournament. This game is quite dull and there is barely any artificial intelligence between the enemies and the player. Hold out on buying this game. There are limited weapons. There are more anticipating 3D shooters out there such as Aliens vs. Predator 2 and Command and Conquer: Renegade.

Why You Shouldn't Hate This Game
Personally, I think this game got a bad rap. This game is awesome, and I will explain why. One reason it got such bad reviews was that it came out at the time of Unreal, Half-Life, Soldier of Fortune, and Quake 3. So, naturally people were like "What does this game have that these other great games haven't already perfected?" Another complaint was that the game play was boring and Neanderthal. Well, the game's creators designed it that way so that anyone who is remotely interested in FPSs would easily slip into the game. Lastly, (And I still think this one is stupid) is the continuing theme of Nazi swastikas and propaganda. Well?!? What did you expect?!?! a bunch of pictures of US presidents?! The game's creators are Polish, so naturally, they wanted to set the mood and feel of being in Nazi Germany. So next time anyone tells you that this game sucks, just remember, that it came out at a bad time, and those people who gave it crappy reviews still play their boring, stupid, "Story-Based" games.
Why You Shouldn't Hate This Game
I don't like the fact that this game got ... reviews. I felt that that was an unfair judgement of this game mettle. This game came out in the period of Unreal, Half-Life, Soldier of Fortune, and Quake 3. So, naturally, most people would be like, "what does this game have that these games haven't already perfected?" Many people also didn't like it because of its basic gameplay, much like Doom and Wolfentstein 3d (This games predecessor) where you run in a room, kill everything in site, get the key, move to the next room, repeat. Not fair. The game's creators made the game so that anyone who even remotely likes FPSs can ease into this game quickly. Another thing that pisses me off, (and this is a wierd one by the way) is the continuing theme of Nazi swastikas and propaganda. Well?!? what did you expect?!?! a bunch of pictures of american presidents?!?! The games creators are Polish for Pete's sake, they wanted to set the mood and tone of being in Nazi Germany. So if anyone else disses this game, its because it came out at the wrong time, and they still want to play their stupid "Story-Based" games.
