Customer Reviews of Monster Cable PG SSGS-500 Surround Sound Speaker System for PS2 Games
THE BEST SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM EVER!!!!!!! I had recently bought this about 1 week ago and the sound is great, even the bass is the best!! I highly recommend this for the ps2!
I think I just messed myself
Ok, it's a little time consumeing to tweak everything, but once you get your balances set prepare for some intense gameing. The Speakers are a snap to setup, and all the plugs are color coded. There are dual inputs on the sub so you can hook up both your ps2, and tv into the 5.1 setup. The sub THUMPS! Kicking off the lights, and putting in a copy of Resident Evil I nearly crapped myself. After watching the intro movie I almost forgot I was playing a game, the sound was so intense. And Shotgun Blasts never sounded better! This is truely a must have for any serious PS2 Gamer!
Not bad if you don't pay too much
On one hand, the cables, the mounting brackets, overall sturdiness and presentation is really impressive. On the other hand, the speakers themselves just don't sound that great. Especially not for over 100 dollars anyway. It would help if the thing had a treble control, but the amp/subwoofer only has a bass control unfortunately.

>The worst thing about it is it's "off" mode(s). You plug it in, flip the switch on the back and use it. Fine. You turn it "off" with the remote and the speakers still hiss lightly. Also this green LED on the front blinks on/off repeatedly while in the off mode. Ok, flick the switch on the back? The hiss dies but the green LED continues blinking... wtf. The light and hiss are incredibly annoying as I bought these (for only 55 thankfully) particularly to use in my bedroom.

>The best thing about this system is that it's a self contained speaker/amp system with a remote for consoles. A similar setup (albeit in stereo not fake surround) via the normal route would require a receiver and separate speakers... of course, for the orignal list price of this monster, you could probably buy those and it would sound better to boot.

>If you can find these for 75 or lower though, it may be worth it for you. But if you are particularly attuned to sound quality (I have over 10 years guitar and drum playing experience) don't expect greatness.
