Customer Reviews of Welcome To The Monkey House
Not Dandy I bought this albumn in hopes of something a little greater. I first heard this band off of some soundtrack, and thought it was really catchy, but when i then purchased their newer albumn a week later, I was greatly disappointed. I don't say this about many albumns I own, but I believe it was a waste of money.
Different, but awesome!
I love the Dandy Warhols! Although I disagree with many of the reviews that say that only a few songs on this album are enjoyable, I do agree that this album sounds completely different than any of their previous albums! I actually think every song is enjoyable on this album, but especially "We Used to Be Friends", "The Dandy Warhols Love Almost Everyone", "The Last High", "Heavenly", and my absolute favorite..."(You Come In) Burned". This album has it all: mellow beats, electronic rhythms, great lyrics, and awesome high and low vocals. Buy it...you won't regret it.
A major bomb
After the release of "13 Tales', this group had some big footsteps to follow. While I didn't really expect them to surpass that brilliant record, I certainly didn't expect Courtney (Mr. Superstar) Taylor-Taylor, & company to come out with a disc this bland. Maybe Taylor couldn't live up to the legendary status that he considers himself to be. Talk about junk! There's a couple of tunes that aren't too bad, but overall, they've revamped their whole sound, and as others have stated, it's like a "pop" sound that's usually found in used record bins. As a matter of fact, I see this disc in every used record section I see. When some people like a band, they'll try and justify what the band does, no matter what that is, and they get their backs to the wall when that group is criticized, but it's much easier to just admit that, yeah, this "experiment" sucks. Well, this sucks.
