Customer Reviews of Mirage of Blaze 1:Summoning
Win me over all the rest of animes I used to love!! Every emotion is blended here, if you put an effort to watch it every detail. I watched twice thoroughly, plus another for just being simply addicted to it after the first two.
The story is very deep, mixing lots and lots of japanese history. But don't worry it won't be boring as it sounds. The music is very good, making your eyes opened wide or relaxed easily. I just pointed out something here, 'cos other reviewers have done great jobs already. I'm here just to deliberate my feeling after watching all of the four dvds.. just yesterday!
Also good news here, Sony JP announced it is making 3 more volumes this year. So by next year, we in the usa may be able to grap them all! Yep! Keep' em coming ^_^
Japanese history meets fantasy
Episodes-
1. Ill Fated Destiny
2. Possessor from the Darkness
3. An Imperfect Awakening
4. Premonition of a Chain Reaction
Story-
During the bloody territorial Civil War Period in Japan powerful warlords (Nobunga Oda, Shingen Takeda, and Kenshin Uesugi) waged war on one another for control of Japan. However, the warlord Kenshin Uesugi also fought for justice and order. After his death Kenshin Uesugi became a war God and sensing that powerful angry souls from the Civil War Period would reject kharmatic reincarnation and would disturb the country?s development to continue their ambitions, obsessions, and curses from long ago he ordered his son-in-law Kagetora to become the leader of the Uesugi Yashashu. It is the mission of the Uesugi Yashashu to stop the interventions of the dead. To do this they take the body of a living person usually when the person is born and expel that person?s soul replacing the body?s original soul with their own and they use their special powers to achieve the goal of their mission.
In present day Japan, Kagetora?s latest reincarnation is a 17-year-old high school student named Takaya Oogi. Takya has no memories of his past lives, or of the duty that he has been given. To make things even more complicated/interesting one of the Generals (Danjyou Kousaka) of the Takeda clan (a clan famous for their rivalry with the Uesugi clan) has selected Takya?s best friend Yuzuru Narita to serve as the body for the head of the Takeda Clan, Shingen Takeda.
Thoughts-
Although, I have never read the manga and knew next to nothing about this series when I purchased vol. 1 I have found the story to be very interesting especially since it mixes history and fantasy in a unique and exciting way. The music is also enjoyable and fits well with this show. This is definitely a series that I will continue with.
Feudal Japan brought to the present
This series has been long anticipated by the few in the states that know of it. In Japan it not only has a novel collection, but CD's and a wine as well.
It brings forth many old legends including Shingen Takeda and Oda Nobunaga. By incorporating the factual, it makes the story that much more darker and easier to follow. I would not recommend this for someone who is looking for laughs, but it has an excellent story line that is often missing in other series.
