Customer Reviews of Minerva
Oh yes Track 1 "Minerva" is a fine ballad-type song by the Deftones, available on their new CD called Deftones. Track 2 "Sinatra" is a Helmet cover, from their old (1990) Strap It On days. The song is great and this kind of tribute has been missing in the industry. Track 3 "Sleep Walk" is also a cover, a famous jazzy guitar tune, laid back and easy. You will recognize it. Overall, this is a very interesting and varied single, and the B-sides (produced by the Deftones) are worth it.
you guys are the dumbest reviewers ever!
this is the most original and unique single to be released this year, besides the new massive attack singles. but anyways, first off yes sinatra is a helmet cover song and its is an excellent cover as one of you wrote nothing original about the cover but its a dead on reproduction of it and an awesome tribute to one of the best rock bands ever! period. number two sleepwalk is is an instrumental track that is a cover of the music from the end of the movie la bamba. i guess the deftones dig it necause a few of them are of mexican heritage, and it is a rockin cover. and ofcourse minerva is great no point saying anything about it none of us would have bought it if we thought it sucked.
will hold you over
Well the first thing to be said is the Deftones are an amazing band with a variety of unique talents. As I have mentioned before on an earlier review of Around the Fur Chino's lyrics are unbelievable and something to inspire. The whole band really needs to get paid amage but unfortuantly this single was a bit of a disopointment.
Minerva, the lead single off of the self titled album is gorgeous
and is something for each person to lay back and move to. Helmet is a great band that unfortuantly never recieved the attention they deserved. Defones aparently thought them to be a great band as well as it seems as though they both have much in common (chord stylings and arranging). As far as the cover is concerned it is a good song. I like Helemt's version, i like Deftone's version, but unfortunatly the Deftones just sound like there playing a Helemt song and there isn't anything that is added to or taken away. Lastly the ending track is "interesting" to say the least but nothing worth 12 dollars for. At the same time these two extra songs will hold you over if you don't have the new album, but it wont last long.
