Mikasa has been in the business of setting beautiful tables since 1948. Best known for their fashionable designs, Mikasa dishes are also well made and reasonably priced. The Wedding Band platinum pattern embodies purity and grace. This 14-1/2-inch platter is made of fine white china that is delicately scalloped around the lip and accented by a gleaming, polished platinum band around the rim. Invoking the dress, the cake, the rings, and the profound tradition of marriage, this platter makes a wonderful wedding gift. Indeed, it will mark a rite of passage and in time become part of a new tradition. For best preservation of the platinum detail, hand washing is recommended. --Erin Brown

Customer Reviews of Mikasa Wedding Band Platinum 14-Inch Oval Fine China Platter
Not originally $132.00 This dish is definitely not worth $132.00. I think Amazon misprices some of their merchandise--because I saw the ENTIRE set when I actually went to a Mikasa store, the WHOLE dish set (probably a 30, 50 or 80 piece set) was being sold for $130, not that one dish! Very misleading! Therefore, be careful when trying to bargain shop on Amazon--don't be misled by the original price tag they give you.
When the merchandise came in the mail (I ordered 4 because I thought I was getting a good deal), the dishes did not come in boxes that said "Mikasa" but in cardboard makeshift boxes that were taped together; not giftable at all. Granted, the dishes were exactly as I imagined they would be; just not giftable.
