The body is rubber wood with an elegant finish along the edges. 3/4-inch thick granite creates a sleek, modern look, and makes an ideal surface for rolling sugar cookie dough or kneading sourdough. It’s also heat-resistant for hot pots and pans. Two storage drawers with antique knobs provide space for zesters, hand-mixers, spatulas, and corkscrews. Below, two doors open to a sizeable cabinet for miscellaneous kitchen appliances, cookbooks, or even a wine rack. The island includes an adjustable shelf and stands on four "bun" feet for stationary use. These feet unscrew easily for installation of four included heavy-duty casters. Two of the casters lock for a stable island during hardy chopping.
The cart requires simple assembly that takes less than half an hour. The full island measures 42 by 20 by 36 inches. The two drawers each measure 14-1/2 by 12-1/2 by 2-2/3 inches internally. Beautiful island, but arrived damaged I searched extensively for a narrow granite-topped island for my fairly small kitchen, and was very happy to find this attractive option. It arrived in 3 separate boxes (the granite top is packaged separately from the two wooden portions of the island.) Upon arrival we put it together, and it looked great but there were two chips out of edge of the granite top and one of the drawers had a cracked corner. I contacted amazon to see if we could obtain a replacement granite top and drawer, and was told that unless we took the entire island apart and shipped in back in the 3 different boxes it came in, there was no way to fix the situation. This was frustrating, given that the top had shipped separately, and shipping back a damaged top and small drawer would be a lot less difficult than disassembling, repackaging (we had to cut open the granite top box to get the heavy piece of granite out of it), and shipping the entire island. Amazon agreed to give us a credit toward the purchase price for the damage, but this is an expensive item that is very visible in our kitchen, and we had hoped that it would look perfect and not be damaged. Overall, it's a great looking island and we are generally happy with it (hence the 4 star rating), but wish there was a more efficient way to address damage that occurs in shipping (particularly to the granite top).

My husband and I spent an entire weekend searching for a reasonable priced kitchen cart at our area furniture stores. It was frustrating and a waste of time. I was reluctant to turn to the internet for furniture but had few options. I found the Michael Scott piece on 3 or 4 websites. Amazon had the best price and a delivery date of less than 10 days versus the others 6 week time frame. The quailty of the piece was better than expected. It arrived in three seperate packages, all at the same time and in perfect condition. I would definately look to use this manufacturer in partnership with Amazon.com for similar items.
