Customer Reviews of Metrolite Stroller - French Bear Print
10 months later - the back wheel came off - far from home! I wrote the below review in the winter. Now, our daughter is 10 months old, and yesterday while out on a walk, the back wheel just came off. We tried to fix it - came off again. Personally, I don't think this should happen after 10 months of use. I'm going to be returning it to BRU for a replacement, and I may get a different kind. I've downgraded my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. I will stand by the other comments I made below. The stroller was good while it lasted, but the wheel thing is BAD. Trying to get home with a broken wheel was a nightmare.
As for some of the problems that other reviewers have mentioned - we haven't seen it. When you put the back wheel brakes on and make sure you straighten the front wheels before trying to fold it - it folds just fine. I've never had it NOT lock in place upon opening in the 5 months that we've been using it. It has not been light use, either - I go walking with it regularly. I will agree, however, that when the stroller is being used as a travel system it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach the under basket. Just resign yourself to the fact that you have to put stuff in the basket prior to putting the car seat in place.
I think in general this is a good buy.
A Great Stroller For The $
This was actually the second stroller we bought. We have a Toyota Corolla, and we couldn't fit the first stroller in the trunk! This one is light weight, easy to fold, and looks nice. I agree that the basket is difficult to access when the baby is laying down, but we solve that by hanging the diaper bag on the back handle. My husband and I love the adjustable handle, and the drink holders were a hit with him as well. I never used an infant seat, but I have heard they work very well with this stroller. I have never had any problems using the seat adjuster...you just have to make sure the strings are even and it works fine! If you don't have a monster SUV or a minivan, I'd stay away from a travel system and go for this great light-weight stroller!
Hard to open and close!
I received the Metrolite stroller as a baby shower gift and was told it was a "high end, top seller". This stroller worked for the first couple of months for me and my son, after that, it was basically useless. I often had problems getting the stroller open completely (only one side would click and lock) and sometimes I could not get the stroller open at all (neither side would lock into place)! If that wasn't bad enough, then it got difficult to close. It is not fun stuggling with a stroller in the mall parking lot or at the park! I returned the stroller to Graco (got $75 for it) and have since bought a Peg Perego which I am very pleased with.
