Customer Reviews of Mercedes Bentley / Versace Armani
Classy 2-Step Track Thats Surprisingly Signed To Warprecords This is a top quality track that could easily be dropped in with artists like DJ Dee Kline in a set.
It has fantastic chunky bass lines that rise up through the speakers and the beats would certainly appeal to garage lovin yoot.
But why its sharing cat WAPcd with aphex, b.o.c, squarepusher etc is anyone's guess and in my view being a person that listens to some garage and loads of electronica its a waste of the tracks potential as if this was on Relentless or a similar label it would be massive.
If you like rollin B-lines in garage then buy this and you won't be disappointed.
a boring nu skool rave tune with horrible mc work
i missed picking this up when it came out because it was filed under something j instead of dj maxximus. upon examination of the case, i should have know this was the... errr... case. anyway. warp is trying to expand their horizons past the usual idm beats and freaks into other realms. in some cases, it's brilliant (see boards of canada), in others it's ... (see vincent gallo). unfortunately, 'mercedes bentley vs. versace armani' falls closer to the [lowest] side of the range. this particular single is a neo-rave track with old new york underground synth work and an mc who is talking about how he owes everything to mercedes, bentley, versace, and armani. nothing special. the dub plate remix of the track is just a lot of the annoying vocals taken out, which is actually kind of nice, but still reminds me of the a-side, which is somewhat disappointing. i am not a fan of nu skool rave, so this isn't my cup of tea. the production isn't even that great. poor effort from warp.
