Customer Reviews of Memorex DVD+R 2.4x Double Layer 50 Pack Spindle
Great media too bad is only 2.4x I had no problem using this media. I have used memorex 16x 4.5gb without a single problem and I thought this 8.5GB could be as reliable as the 4.5gb, I was right, I have two drives LG and SONY and this media work fine on both. I hope faster 8.5gb to be in the market soon. It takes between 35 and 40 minutes to burn one disc at 2.4x
Memorex quality still an issue
Despite my aversion to Memorex DVDs (based on prior experience), I elected to give the brand another try with the dual layer/double density DVDs. Unfortunately, I am getting the same results: DVDs that may or may not burn accurately. I have burned perhaps 12 of these, and I would estimate that 5 had serious errors. The results are that some are unplayable, while others are so fraught with artifacts, pixelations and freezes, they are not worth watching. Not only is this a waste of money, it is a waste of copying time.

>I do not understand well enough the process by which DVDs are burned. However, it appears that the DVDs encounter most of their problems toward the end of the burn (i.e., the edge of the DVD). It may be that the material that records the data falls off in quality toward the edges. That is merely speculation, but the end result (a high failure rate) is a fact.

>To dispel any notion that it might be my burner (a new Phillips 16x/4x dual layer/double-density burner), you should know that I can compress and copy the same material onto a Verbatim 4.7 GB DVD without incident.

>From the other reviews, it appears that my experience may be isolated. Fair enough. But I have had enough poor experiences with Memorex DVDs to avoid buying them for the near future. I am still hopeful they can produce (or purchase) a more consistent, higher quality product. This is not it.
fine stuff
The only bad disks I've ever had here, after three orders, are those I've accidentally made myself. I keep buying them.
