Customer Reviews of Megaman Vol 1:Upon a Star
ADV does it again... I'm startin' to really let ADV grow on me, even though they've probably done not so nice things with other licenses, they just shine so well with their Megaman releases. <

>This is a collection of the never released 3 part Original Video Animation made in 1993. The first time it was EVER released was in a 2002 Japanese DVD Box Set with Japanese and oddly enough English audio. <
> <
>Well, the English audio isn't so odd...because if you watch this series, you will realize that it is almost a 3-part pilot of sorts for the Megaman TV show we all (er, most) know and love. <
> <
>I love both audio tracks, even though Scott McNeil isn't quite the Dr. Wily he is in the TV show. But while the kid parts could be seen as poorly acted, I think it is really cute in all honesty, this is the juvenile Megaman everyone has been dying to see. Although...the voice actor for the father figure is uh pretty interesting (aka hilarious.) <

>Here's some other interesting tidbits I dug up: <
> <
>First off, the whole Ocean Group does the English dub so, there's the obvious connection between this and the Ruby Spears thing (also listen to Terry Klassen's Rush...Krillin flashbacks for me.) You've got Scott McNeil as Dr. Wily and as said Dr. Light reprising his role. <
> <
>Then you check out the credits, and see that Mr. Ruby and Mr. Spears actually WERE involved...and so were their musicians! <
> <
>Not to mention that if you look really close you'll notice that many shots are done in the same fashion as the TV series, especially in the 3rd part where Megaman holds his buster by his face, the camera zooms out as he puts his arm behind his back, and then he finally grasps his buster and fires. <
> <
>If you ask me, besides being an "educational" program, this OAV was nothing more than the Megaman pilot! <
> <
>(Not to mention it's fun to think that this is actually the prequel to the TV show.)
