Customer Reviews of Mega Man X2
Another awesome X game In 1993, Capcom released a sequel to its first game in the Mega Man X series. How does it measure up to its predecessor? Read on and see.
Graphics: 4/5
Very smooth and simple, just the way Mega Man graphics should be.
Play Control: 3.75/5
Basically a lot like the NES classic series games. Having a dash instead of a slide is kind of weird at first though. Still, in the end, this scheme is pleasing.
Challenge: 3.25/5
This game is tough your first time through, there's no denying that. However, with a little bit of practice and persistance, it's not that tough.
Theme/Fun: 4/5
This Mega Man X game is, by all means, an excellent one. It's cool to have a series that takes place a hundred years after the original, but at the same time continues on it. However, I miss the classic characters and the cool items. But, like another reviewer said, the first game's ideas are brought to their fullest here.
Sound/Music: 4/5
Excellent music. A few of the tunes are regular killers, and sounds are good too.
Storyline: 5/5
Storyline is the strength here. 100 years after the orignal games, Dr. Light's last robot is dug up in an excavation. Dr. Cain, who dug it up, learns it can do as it pleases, and make its own decisions. Intrigued, he builds many similar bots, but discovers they can betray humankind, so he assembles the Maverick Hunters, led by Sigma, the most powerful robot in the world. Unfortunately, Sigma himself turns evil, and X must stop him. After defeating Sigma, he strikes back.
Overall: 4/5
The Super Nintendo Mega Man X games and the first PSX one, X4, are all excellent, and certainly worth your time. Got the systems? Get these games.
Capcom has just been too good to us.
Mega Man games have truly become a part of our gaming culture, and the Mega Man X series got right off to a great start with the first one! The second one is even better!
In my personal opinion this is the best Mega Man X game of them all so far. The only Mega Man X game that even comes close is X4.
To start off, the "capsules" in this give you more enhanced abilities than in the first one. For example one capsule gives you the ability to dash in mid-air, while another gives you a helmet enhancement to pin-point the location of hearts, other capsules, and more secrets.
The music is probably the best of all the Mega Man X games, and the bosses are defenitely worthy opponents. The abilities are great, and not to mention that there are a lot of them this time around. There are also three side bosses. If you don't defeat them you get a special boss just before the final.
If you enjoyed the first Mega Man X game, then this is defintely worth a look for you.
X2 rules!
This game is, overall, better than the previous X installment. It has a good level of challenge, although once you get the hang of it, the game becomes pretty easy. The weapons, though somewhat dull and uncreative, are still pretty fun to mess around with. For example, changing the weather using your bubble splash, speed burner, strike chain, and crystal hunter in Wire Sponge's stage, and the priceless joy of making Crystal Snail chase his shell around by using the magnet mine on him. This game has awesome replay value, not necessarily cuz of all the secrets, but just because it's so much fun! The graphics are great, not like the first one where there wasn't really definition between colors. One of the best features of the game is the music. The tunes in X were cool, but the tunes in X2 are so cool I've died trying to finger drum along with the music (especially in Flame Stag's level). The only complaint I have about the game is the slow down. I personally think slow down looks pretty neat-o, but only when it's supposed to happen! It's NOT cool, for example, when you're trying to dodge junk being thrown at you by Morph Moth's cocoon form! Fortunately, that flaw is ruled out by the game's overall well roundedness. The gameplay, music, and number of hidden gizmos to find make this game a must have for long time fans and a best buy for people who are new to the series(too bad it's so expensive!).
