Motor lasted 3 months
I could go into a long explanation of how I searched and did tons of research before buying an occasional use pump for myself, who is a stay at home mom. I could explain in detail about everything I did to try and get this pump to work, in the meantime before figuring out the motor was not working, of how I was freaking out my supply was dwindling so I went out to buy fenugreek.....But, suffice it to say, the motor lasted me 3 months of once, twice a week useage. It didn't completely die, which is why it took me a while to figure it out, but after paying attention, I could see the vaccum losing more and more power until when I couldn't even get a quarter ounce from one side and I was nearly engorged..!!! <

>At least Medela is shipping me out a new motor, this one I hope will at least last longer. Especially since my warranty runs out in 2 months (6 month total warranty- which to me is too little for a product that costs over $100!!) Even though I'm staying at home and only use the pump occasionally, I wish I'd just spent the extra $150 and gotten a Pump in Style!

It is ok, but now I am investing in the Pump In Style
I purchased this pump when my first child was just a few months old (summer 2004). After pumping using a manual pump I was pleased to get around twice the amount of milk in one sitting. I used the pump once a day for just a few months and put it away for the next child. <
>I am now on baby #2 and after only 5 months of using this pump (once a day) for the second baby I am having problems. First I had problems with the pump sucking milk into the machine. After cleaning the machine and tubes I tried to re-use the pump, however the pump has lost a great deal of suction and I can only use it effectively on one side at a time. Even while only pumping on one side I can still only pump around half the amount I as able to before. <
>While this pump did work for 10 months total, it still wasn't worth it to me.I just ordered the Pump In Style as I have heard rave reviews about that one. <

Works fine but pretty noisy...
This pump works great for occasional use and after 5 months, I still have not encountered any problems with the suction that some reviewers have mentioned. (The instruction book explains how to clean the motor in the event of suction loss, so hopefully that problem is avoidable.) However, beware that the motor is very loud -- I definitely wouldn't recommend taking this one to work or anywhere else that you would need to be discreet. (When I use it, I sit in the bathroom with the fan on so that my family doesn't have to hear it!) I also recommend buying the micro-steam bags by Medela so you can just throw the parts in the microwave and clean them right away each time you use them.
