Madden 2002 = GOOD Ive played other football games on the PSX but this one is by far the best one. Many claim that this is the same as Madden 2001 but as an avid player Ill tell you theyre wrong. Dont worry about the music, I dont pay any attention to it, however the game itself looks the same as Madden 2001 however little anoying things from 2001 have been corrected e.g. the receiving and intercepting is alot more realistic, there are better plays, and the QB gets the ball of quicker and more accurately. If you already have 2001 and are strapped for cash, dont buy this; but if you dont have either version, this one is a sure thing.
EA Sports is No Longer Ahead of the Class
I have been a gridiron gamer since Tecmo's Super Bowl on the original Nintendo. Up until yesterday I've felt EA Sports has been a step ahead of the competition, especially with its Madden dynasty. However, that all seems to be changing this year. Madden 2002 simply took last year's version, updated half the player info, changed the music, added mulligans, and put in Classic Madden as you would have seen it in '90. I don't mind seeing all the same player pictures that were on 2001 but it just shows the lethargy on the part of Electronic Arts. Mulligans are kind of nice for that cheating stats junkie that restarts games after throwing an interception. Of course, if you want to play fair, you can turn this option off. And who wants to play a twelve year old version of Madden? Nice idea, bad execution. This year's Madden is not worth your money. In fact if you don't already own it I would suggest 2001 over 2002...the music is at least bearable. Obviously, the makers are giving up on Playstation and focusing on PS2. Give 989 or Aklaim a try unless you want to fork out a couple hundred for the new system. Very Dissapointing.
