This is a touching story about a close-knit, functional family and its interaction with a smart, adorable chimp. While this 93-minute film does contain some fairly violent hockey scenes, it is for the most part wholesome family entertainment that celebrates such values as open-mindedness, caring, and compassion. The chimps are thoroughly entertaining, and Kevin Zegers (Steven) and Jamie Renée Smith (Tara) do a nice job with their roles. Ages 5 and up. --Tami Horiuchi

Customer Reviews of MVP: Most Valuable Primate
Perfect for Hocky Loving Kids I ordered this movie for my husband's cousin, who's 7 and crazy about hockey. He loves the movie and has added it to his constantly playing hockey movie marathon. You'll love this fun story too about a Monkey who breaks out and joins the hockey team.
WARNING! The description is wrong, this is FULL SCREEN!
Regardless of what you order, you get full screen, which really pisses me off. There is no excuse for only making a full screen DVD in the 21st Century!!!
Warning: No talking animals
How am I supposed to understand what the chimp is talking about if all he does is make noises. Having a major character in a movie, animal or not, who doesn't have any speaking lines is ridiculous. Also, even though the chimp is on the cover, this movie ends up being much more about this kid and his family and winning this one game, etc. I wish they had invested a lot more in the chimp himself, or at least represent the movie more honestly on the cover, like maybe showed the chimp and the kid with his family on the ice together. Then maybe I wouldn't have wasted my time watching this kiddie garbage.
