For you NON-otaku who are thinking of skipping this one because of what was said about Pioneer's dub cast, here's what you need to keep in mind about some hardcore "otaku" anime fans...even if the dub was perfect, they'd find some reason to whine. Hence, reviews like the one below. Remember that before you take that review too much to heart. I listened to the English dub and the original Japanese track with an open mind and open ears, and I think Tony Oliver(Lupin), Lex Lang (Goemon), Richard Epcar(Jigen) and Michelle Ruff(Fujiko) did an excellent job! The only thing that threw me off are the modern day pop-culture references that have made their way into too many of Pioneer's Lupin releases. But seeing how the original was made in the late 60's and early 70's, staying too close to the time period which it was made would have dated the series more than the animation has. But that's a minor quibble in what is a fine series overall.

Oh, and if you ARE a "subs rule, dubs drool" anime fan, then let me clue you in...this edition, like all of the Pioneer Lupin series, comes with subtitles AND the original Japanese track. See? Everybody wins.

Funny still, but AVOID THE ENGLISH DUB AT ALL COSTS
The episode's in the 3rd volume are some classics: Lupin worrying he's a schizo(with some great moments, especially the end), the gang encountering someone pretending to be Lawrence of Araiba the 3rd, Lupin tries to destroy something which winds up stuck in Zenigata's teeth, have to save Fujiko from a curse that involves ZOMBIES!, and, arguably the best one, since it's very different from the typical episodes, attempts to steal a jewel, but is doing so while in disguise as one of three famous detectives! The episodes are great fun, and the animation's even gotten better. This is a great buy. Still, there's still something wrong with this series..... THE ENGLISH DUBBING!!!!!

It's horrible. Pure awful. The voices simply ruin the entire English version. Why was Tony Oliver cast as Lupin? He gives the master thief an awful, hi-pitched voice, and makes him sound like a complete idiot. Richard Epcar, who did a great Goemon in Cagliostro, butchers Jigen. He sounds like he's trying to imitate Chris Sabat's version of him. The same goes for Goemon's voice actor(I forget his name), who sounds like he's imitating Mike McFarland. And the awful, dumbed down lines. "Oh, yes, I had a case like that before, I kept a violin in it!" Ugh. I think it's odd, if the series is supposed to be aimed for adults, why is it dubbed as if it were for three-year olds!? Overall, the English dub is to be avoided. Don't listen to this hunk of garbage! The Japanese voices are MUCH better!

The DVD's great, but the bad English-voice nearly ruins it.

It's Lupin and funny stuff as always
Okay I will make this short and sweet, every episode on here is funny, the animation is clean and the sound is good. The only thing I do not like about the series so far is that they are not releasing the english versions of this in one set. This is the second season of Lupin, the funnier one, and there are over 100 episodes of it. I guess I will buy them until I see the english version of this in Box set. You could buy the Japanese sets also, but who wants to read the whole time.
