Customer Reviews of Lucinda's Spell (Special Edition)
I fell under Lucinda's Spell, you will too Lucinda's Spell is a charming little independent movie from bizzare director Jon Jacobs (who wrote/directed/starred in this and the previous "Girl with the Hungry Eyes"). Set in decadent New Orleans, on the eve of Beltain (pagans' "sacred night of love"), Jason the First Horn has come to couple with the most powerful witch. He encounters a coven of witches who would do anything at the chance to have sex with him. A group of women fighting over one guy? Sounds like every man's fantasy. But director Jacobs has turned the fantasy into a nightmare! In the middle of all this is Luicnda Bale (Christina Fulton, also from "Girl with the Hungry Eyes"), white witch and working girl who must overcome her self esteem in order to win and get back the son she thought she lost.
All in all, this was a pretty good film. I gave it only four stars because there was no director commentary. DVDs need commentary and it would have been nice to hear how Jon Jacobs put together this independent movie. See this movie!
i'm shocked people actually liked this film
i'm stunned. this was one of the worst films i've ever seen. the plot: a brainless witch (lucinda) needs to come up with a spell to snag a guy that all the other witches want to snag so they can have his kid. but she already got with him and had his kid years before so i'm a bit lost as to why any of this film even took place...
perhaps so we get to see lucinda (who is also a hooker) bring clients up to her trashy apartment...
or maybe to see the main guy go through a whorehouse whacking each girl on the backside while *checking* to see if it's lucinda (because, apparently, he can't remember what she looks like but something on her bum might refresh his memory)...
or, the high point of the whole film, when a witch (beatrice was it?) decides to conjure up a satyr and... um... pleasure him for an audience of witches. his lines were (intentionally or not) the most hilarious part. but that's in the last five minutes of the film.
the characters are lifeless, the plot is thin and the movie itself is a chore to watch. mystery science theater 3000 shows better films.
Very Enjoyable If Imperfect
This is good movie. It is not flawless though. You can see where they had to cut corners for their limited budget. But all in all it is a fun cult movie. Worth checking out. It needed more naked chicks though.
