Customer Reviews of Low Countries: Holland, Belgium & Luxembourg
Good video of often overlooked destinations This is a very good introduction to the Low Countries, showing just enough to whet the appetite. The coverage of Luxembourg City is valuable -- for some reason Rick does not include it in his travel books.
Disappointing video, high on lectures - low on scenery
This is an obvious combination of two programs onto one video, something I ordinarily wouldn't mind, but it includes the trailers so that you hear what you're going to see three times. What you see is disappointing, Rick Steves is in Amsterdam at the Dam Square and says "just over there is the royal palace." You'll have to take his word for it, because he doesn't show you a picture of it. We see the crowd inside the Anne Frank house, but the outside of the house is left to your imagination. Many picturesque buildings in Amsterdam, including the Riksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum are not shown, we do see the people inside the tour boat... The worst is when Rick lectures us about carrying our valuables inside a money belt. He's so serious about protecting us, that he is scares me instead and I'm not sure if I want to visit Amsterdam. I bought this video to show my 10 year old daughter what Amsterdam was like before our visit there later this summer - but I'm going to spare her and I'm returning the video!
