Customer Reviews of Lovecraftian Dark
...........why so unknown? When I listen to this, it almost reminds me of a combination of the Kovenant's CD "Nexus Polaris" and ...and Ocean's CD "Cypher". Those are probably 2 really hard albums to put together, but that's what came to my head.
First of all, yes there are 14 tracks, but the CD still clocks in at under an hour. I'm not sure how long their first CD was. What I can tell you about this album is that it doesn't seem as atmospheric as the first one. I've only listened to samples on amazon from it, but I can tell that Night in Carcosa sounds more atmospheric than this. The cover art on that album is magnificent. This album's cover art is quite boring and sets no atmosphere. Also, the first 4 tracks have nearly no keyboards and sound like little more than older style death metal or music such as "the Haunted". However, once you get to the song "Watchtower Son", you'll be in for one heck of a treat. The drumming is played to absolute perfection and the guitars are close behind. The vocals finally seem to blend in well in this song. Speaking of vocals, after this song (track 7), multiple styles of clean vocals get introduced. Some are female and some are your traditional power metal vocals.
For anyone else wondering, the first and last tracks are instrumental short songs. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this CD to many people unless you just have to own every black metal and goth-like CD out there. Again, Watchtower Son is a wonderful song and the songs after that are enjoyable, but there are many other bands I would prefer to listen to before Dawn of Relic. I got excited after hearing the keyboards in the samples off their other CD, but this just doesn't impress me the way I thought it would.
Whenever you get the time, go ahead and read some of my other reviews. I always try to write reviews for the CDs that are rare and don't have many reviews. I figure that by doing this, they might become more popular.
Combines Black, and Melodic Death
Dawn of Relic...A band i just recently got into. To Make things easy for everyone looking at this review, They are a mix of say...Trail of Tears,Lacuna Coil,Callenish Circle, and maybe a little bit Dark Funeral. The Atmospheric Keyboards bring out the sound in the music. Also, you can't forget the melodic breakdowns in songs...It all fits great.
