Customer Reviews of Lost & Found-Treasures of the Heifetz Legacy
some things should stay lost It isn't difficult to see why Heifetz avoided recording many of these transcriptions. Why was it so important that Ms. Kloss record the banal Gluck "Sonata", the painfully awful Debussy "La Puerta del Vino" (in which she sounds like an 8 year old during her first recital), and the ghastly Ravel "Forlane"? Compounding my displeasure was Ms. Kloss' overly harsh tone throughout this program. The Master would not be pleased.
Sherry Kloss--Heifetz Reborn!
Sherry Kloss, Jascha Heifetz' right arm during his teaching years, brings wonderful echos of the masterful Heifetz playing. The elegance, taste, nuance, and wonderful energy of Heifetz come through clearly in Ms. Kloss'playing. The miniatures that Heifetz gave the musical world are here in their glory. How many violinists, both professional and amateur were brought to their trade or hobby from an early love of such transcriptions?
Although brief in length, these pieces require as much, if not more pure musicality than many of the larger forms.
