Customer Reviews of Locomotion Express
MARCH FANS HAVE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT ANY TRAIN FAN, OR MARCH FAN WILL ENJOY, THAN THIS DISC IS FOR YOU. THE PERFORMANCE IS ENERGETIC AND STRONG. THE DISC FEATURES MORE THAN ENOUGH MUSIC TO KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORS BANGING ON YOUR DOOR TO QUIET DOWN. GREAT LINER NOTES FROM A MORE HISTORICAL POINT OF VIEW. A MUST FOR TRAIN LOVERS. TOTALLY ENJOYABLE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY.
Playing Does Not Meet Concept of Album
What could be more fun than a disc of band music about trains? There is the great band standard "Rolling Thunder" (Henry Fillmore) and several marches that promise to be great fun. (The Toledo Blade, The B&O March, Little Red Caboose, Field & Concert Novelty for example).
I was really looking forward to this album when I saw it. The circus band sounds underrehearsed. There's some great music on this disc--little-played, but not worth investing money. Mr. Phillips has another disc with his Circus Band out--I hope it is better prepared than those on this disc.
The notes center around railroad history, and in that regard they are very interesting. I was hoping more for info on the composers of these marches, galops, and screamers. But that's nitpicking. I would just like to know who people like C. Carlton and D. Moffitt are.
