>CIAO'
Design flaw...kept going off the track
My 2 year old LOVED this toy but I returned it because it kept going off track in the same spot. The train would not complete the full circle 8 as described and was intended to do. I was tired of my son yelling "it broke" every time he tried to use it. Sad because he really enjoyed it the 3/4th's of the track that it did stayed on.
Come on everybody body, ride the train....
We purchased this item for my son for Christmas '05. He was 12 months old at the time. We set it up in the living room under the tree, along with several other presents, and it was the first thing that our son went for in the morning. (I have to mention that my husband played with it for the better part of an hour the night before.)

>The conductor is the perfect size to be used as a Binky. The poor little conductor stayed in our son's mouth for the rest of Christmas morning, and a lot of the time since then. He plays with the train every day, but usually just with the engine. He brings it into the kitchen or living room, and it runs quite well on most floor surfaces; carpet, linoleum, tile. It bogs down a little on the bathroom rug, but I don't see that as being a problem.

>I think that this toy has great staying power. Right now, my son (at 13 months) does not really play with the set as intended; i.e. running the train around the track, but he gets a lot of enjoyment out of it and I believe it will hold his attention for the next few years. We have a few other Fisher-Price Little People sets (like the Ramps Around Garage) and are planning on adding more over the next year, and it's nice that all the pieces are compatible and you can basically build a little city.

>There are a lot of cute details of the train set that you may not see by looking at the box. In the "farm" area, the windmill on the barn turns. At the train depot, the clock hands turn. And my favorite is the "country" area. There is a swing in the tree that the Little People fit in, and it actually swings. Very cute. There is also a taxi station, but it doesn't have any moving parts; it's just a platform with a pay phone and a curb area. You also get three Little People (the conductor and two passengers), some luggage, a box of fruit, and a potted plant. All of these fit in the train cars or sit as scenery in the different areas, but do not attach anywhere... great for imaginative play.

>Over all, we are very pleased with the train set. It was worth the money, and I think it has a long "life expectancy", play-wise. And, like most other Fisher-Price toys, it's very well constructed and can take the abuse that a typical baby dishes out.
