The best linux magazine, period
This is my favorite magazine on any topic. <

Best Linux Magazine for the home user.
I have read multiple issues of Linux Magazine and Journal but they seem to target IT professionals where as this magazine targets the every day Linux user from beginner to advanced. Almost every issue has articles on using desktop applications, troubleshooting common configuration issues and down-and-dirty programming guides/tips. <

Readable Tech
I purchased a copy of this at a brick & mortar. It came with three distributions of Linux that booted and ran totally from CD, one of which included OpenOffice 1.1 on the disk among several dozen other applications. One disk had the option to download the latest FireFox browser (among other things). All the distro's found and configured everything and even got a IP from the router in my office, making it possible to connect to the web. Only one distro automatically configured my mb's sound chip correctly. YMMV. Disks like these are what is needed to convince people to switch from windows. Beautful GUI, fast startup with all your applications make a great OFTB experience.

The magazine if totally readable. They have lots of sidebars to help you through the tech if you need it. They have a supporting website. When they do a programming series, they LIST all of the software requirements that you will need for the series. They give you the special compiler enviroment parameters all in a clear and easy to read format. Perl, PHP, Game Programming (C/C++) they are covering it here.

This magazine is not smug. It doesn't assume that you are a guru, but even if you are (I have over 20 years of IT), I believe that you will find this a useful edition to your reading.

As for the price? Well, I subscribed for decades to a number of tech publications that were priced higher. You'll save $3 off of the cover price and won't have to go to the bookstore.
