Customer Reviews of Lily Pons: Greatest Hits on Records
LILY PONS AT HER BEST It is easy to understand why Lily Pons was the worlds leading coloratura soprano for an over 20 year reign, especially since she was on the international Opera scene some two decades before the Great Beverly Sills (whom was greatly influenced by Pons) and Joan Sutherland. Pons' light and lyrical coloratura voice makes even the most difficult arias seem simple. This is evident in the very technically difficult Bell Song from Delibes opera Lakme. Her 1935 studio recording or Rosini's "Una Voce Poco Fa" from Il Barbiere di Seviglia is my favorite on the CD. Her high F is held with strength and supported thoroughly. This Minerva CD dose an excellent of restoring these historic recordings and the reduction is wonderful. If you are an opera fan, BUY THIS CD
