Avril rawks, but you already knew that :) I don't have "Let Go" yet, but I'm definately saving up for it. After stealing my friend's copy, I quite literally fell in love with the album. Avril Lavigne is a very talented girl with a unique voice, and great songwriting skills.
It's a welcome change that the 17-year-old doesn't promote revealing clothes, or using her body to sell her work *cough* you know who I mean *cough*. She plays her own music, the guitar for those of you who were wondering, and is good at it too. Her style, both playing and vocal is the perfect mix of rock, punk, and pop, with no parental advisory stamp on the cover. I didn't think that was possible.
The many messages her songs send out are also a plus.
"Sk8er Boi" looks at being your own person and taking control of your own life, not letting other people do it for you. So many people, mainly teens and pre-teens, want to fit in and be one of the crowd. This issue of conformity is made easy to understand.
Even though it'll probably be stuck in your head for a day or two, can you think of a better song to play over and over?

Her hit first-single,"Complicated", talks about people trying to be someone they aren't, and hurting the people close to them in the process. This pretty goes hand-in-hand with "Sk8er Boi."
Avril's a great role model, and someone I definately look up to. She's an inspiration for everyone who wants to get their feet wet in the music biz, even me. All in all, you won't be disappointed in this album, and I can only hope I get it soon.
I can guarantee we'll be hearing more of Avril in the coming years. Ciao, for now :)

Promising Debut from Avril Lavigne: Catchy Pop In Disguise
Avril Lavigne's debut album "Let Go" is highly impressive. The songs are wonderfully written and generally very catchy. They really market her well with her skater/punk image. The "I'm real" persona is so "in" right now. Whether Avril's image is "real" or not matters little here. What matters is the music. And the music on her debut CD is awesome. Despite her punk rocker style, Avril probably has more in common with Deborah (Debbie) Gibson than Kelly Osbourne. For one thing, Avril demonstrates a promising long-term career in music. When I first her "Complicated" on the radio, the song and her sound instantly caught my attention. I knew she would be a huge hit. My other favorite song is "Skaer Boi" which really solifies Avril's image and really hones in at her target audience. Avril also fares well on down-tempo ballads with her whispy vocals. I saw her MTV's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live performance and her vocals were not very good. So I think she needs to work on her vocals for live performances. But Avril has amazing stage presencen, energy and spunk. Avril looks poised to be the Alanis Morrissette of the new generation. If you're turned off by the whole skater/punk image, look pass it because the music on this CD is really great.

Who ever wrote the review "Terrible" doesn't know what they are talking about! Avril Lavigne is just about the best singer out there, she writes who own songs, has a great voice, and does what she does and like what she likes and doesn't care what anyone thinks!! So if you are into those total airheads who can't even sing, SCRAM!! I'm not saying you shouldn't have your own opinions, I am just saying you don't have to be idiots!!! If you think she can't sing, you should go to the doctor's office and have your ears checked, and then go get them checked again! Maybe then you will be more apprieciative of FANTASTIC AMAZING PHENOMENAL MIND BOGGLING AND JUST PLAIN WOW!!!
