Not Great--but Not Bad, Either. Yep, I just rented this movie for just 99 cents at my local video store, so I figured that I'd add my own 2 cents here. This is a barely-competent "B" horror/comedy which does have a few cool scenes and a few good laughs. Basically, it is a showcase for 3 things: 1) It gives us Warwick Davis--formerly so cute, genteel, and heroic as the titular WILLOW--as the horrific and murderous titular LEPRECHAUN. The point of this movie is to see how many big people that the diminutive Davis can kill, and in what gory ways possible. 2) The great makeup job on Davis, which in of itself is a character: it makes him look effectively comical, and very creepy. 3) Jennifer Aniston in an early pre-"Friends" role.
Bottom line: this is an effective low-budget horror flick, but make sure that you don't spend too much on the video. Also, make sure to keep your pre-teen kids away from it, as this is a fairly gory movie that is likely to give them nightmares. For kids in the 10-to-12-year-old range that like a good scare, I'd recommend POLTERGEIST, or the 1978 remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS instead.

Leprechaun is one of those horror movies from the early 1990's nobody really remembers...well maybe Conan O'Brian. When I was younger my group of friends would always discuss who would win in a fight of Horror movies monters. My guy would be Pinhead, one guy would pick Freddy, and other Jason. For a fun I would always throw in Leprechaun to get a chuckle out of the group. So that is what Leprechaun is all about. Its comedy more then horror.
What makes this movie fun is that Warwick Davis takes his role serious and has a lot of fun with it. A ton of classic lines.
Jennifer Aniston is in this movie and its just funny seeing her in this film which makes it a even more of a classic. If you like pure fun this a good movie for you. 1993 was a great year for these type of B movie horror films. Quality of B-movies has fallen since early 90's and it was just dead at the late 90's. Its always good to go back and check these films out. Leprechaun is one of my favorite from the early 90's era.

If you like low budget horror movies then this is the movie for you. This is the best horror movie I have seen since Halloween 8!If you have not seen it then this is what it is about: It's about this girl and her dad and they move into this house and it's disgusting. Then these painters get there and one of the painters hears something in a crate down in the basement of the house. So he brushes a four leaf clover off of the crate and he lets out a killer Leprechaun! And the Leprechaun threats to bite the painter's ear off if he does not tell him where his gold is. But the painter escapes. Then he and another painter find a bag of gold in a 50s truck. And then the Leprechaun goes on a murder spree. The first time I ever saw Leprechaun was one night Leprechaun was on the SCIFI Channel. so my mom asked: "Hey Tony want to watch Leprechaun?" So I said OK. And then my uncle gave me a copy on dvd cause I told him I want to own it. And I also bought a copy on tape too. And I am getting Leprechaun 2 from Netflix.com. But if you have not seen this movie and you want to see it's seqels don't bother with Leprechaun 3 because me and my uncle are Leprechaun fans and my uncle said that Leprechaun 3 was stupid and gross because the plot was stupid and it had gross stuff like fingers getting cut off. And my uncle said that Leprechaun and Leprechaun 2 were the best ones but my uncle remembers little about Leprechaun 2 but I don't think he's seen Leprechaun 4: In Space yet. And don't bother with Leprechaun In The Hood and Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood because my uncle says it is the same as Leprechaun 3. So if you haven't seen this film make sure you get it from here because it is a good film. But as I said don't bother with Leprechaun 3 Leprechaun In The Hood and Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood.
