Works just fine for me
I got this lampshade because eventhough I don't have the Pamela collection, it matches my daughter's bedding perfectly. I had another lampshade that melted a little when it touched the lightbulb, but this one is wider than most and no matter how I tilt it, it can't even come near the bulb at any angle. I'm sorry to hear that the first reviewer had a problem. I think she was saying that the shade was laying directly on the bulb and that's how it burned. I don't know what size bulb this shade is designed for, but maybe since the 40 watt bulb is smaller it might have slipped off more easily. I always use a 60 watt and this lampshade stays tightly attached to that size lightbulb.

FIRE HAZARD
I strongly urge anyone interested in purchasing this product to reconsider. I have a nine month old baby whos' nursery is done in the "pamela" decor. I just got around to using her lamp quite recently. The first time it was used was in the early evening, the baby was in her crib, I was putting her laundry away, and thought I'd try the lamp. After less than a minute I got a strange smell and turned to see the lamp shade smoking. When I opened the drawer to put her clothes away, the shade tipped and rested on the bulb. (which was only 40 watts) The bulb burned right through the plastic interior and the cloth exterior leaving a large hole. Please, please, please do not buy this product. Had I left the room for any reason I'm afraid to think what may have happened. This product was made to decorate a childs room, children eventually "rough house" and knock things over which usually results in bumps and bruises, but, if that happened with this product, it could lead to a disaster.
