Customer Reviews of Late Night Tales
Find out what's behind the jazz funk of Jamiroquai Love Jamiroquai? Then you'll love this great audio history of what influenced Jay Kay and the band. You get soul, disco, jazz funk and latin flavor. Of course the Americans get screwed yet again by the deletion of Lalo Schifrin's Enter The Dragon & two great Dexter Wansel cuts, only found on the UK release. Nevertheless, great songs still appear on the US version.
Listen to Rainin' Through My Sunshine and try not to think of High Times. Others like Stay Free, Here's To You & Music Of The Earth illustrate where Jamiroquai was comin' from, musically. Hearing California Dreaming & Happiness are great surprises and wonderful inclusions. Some of these songs are hard to find, such as Whisper Zone & What's Your Name.
My two gripes are The White City, a boring spoken word tale, which makes no sense unless you have other Late Night Tales CDs. And the poor remastering of the Commodores hit included here. Sounds like they took it from a crappy, scratched up LP. It's 2004--wake up to technology
Only two of these songs were hits in the US. That explains why you might not have heard most of these and why Jamiroquai is still a cult band here. But a great collection, nonetheless. Pump it at your next party!
All of you who get it!
I have to say that I didn't know if this was a cover album before I took the time to check it out...I found this compilation to be WONDERFUL! It reminds me of every feeling that I have about Jamiroquai - I actually reinforced why I love Jay and the band so much - I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know about true talent!!!!!!!!!
Good Collection of Some Rare Tracks
A great, funky CD full of rare, lesser known tracks from the 70's and early 80's. Being a huge Jamiroquai fan for years, I was glad they put this album out. After listening to it, you will definitely be able to compare and hear the influences that 70's music has on Jamiroquai's funky, unique sound. This is a good CD to add to your Jamiroquai collection, or if you are still unfamiliar with their music, this CD gives a good introduction in educating the listener on how Jamiroquai has evolved into what it is today.
