Customer Reviews of Latch-Loc Infant Car Seat with LATCH - Breckenridge
nice features, but some problems... We have used many Baby Trend products in the past and have been very pleased, so decided to go with this car seat, too. However, after using it for about 2 weeks, I'm planning to return it. While I like many of the features (oversized canopy, ease of use, etc.), I'm concerned that the harness does not safely hold my infant, since the chest strap piece does not stay in place but instead slips down toward the waist belt (even when uncomfortably tight). That kind of defeats the purpose of a 5-point harness.
We also noticed last time we installed the seat in the car that the level/recline indicator system is inadequate. Since it does not use a liquid but instead uses a hanging/swinging piece of plastic, the indicator tends to get stuck. If it's stuck, you can turn the knob to adjust the recline all you want, but it won't ever move and show you the correct recline. Or, you can have it in a dangerous level of recline, but the indicator may show it to be correct. Not good. You can also change the recline level reading yourself by simply touching the little red know above where the indicator displays, so you can pretty much make it say what you want it to say without ever adjusting the seat recline. All in all, the recline indicator is useless in my opinion.
Finally, I have to agree with another reviewer that the seat is loose and rattles when driving. Personally, I hate having to listen to that. And while it seems that the seat fits securely into the base, I'd probably feel better if it seemed a tighter fit.
By the way, the LATCH system works great though. It was not a problem fitting it into our car, a Honda Odyssey.
Nice car seat
We purchased this car seat for our daughter who was born 3 weeks early and weighed a little over 6 lbs. She fit very nicely in this seat, even with her small size. The handle is so easy to carry and the padding and canopy are wonderful. The restraint straps are really easy to use to take her in and out of it, and it's easy to undue the snap lock. Sometimes the straps did undue uneven, but it was a simple remedy of pulling the shoulder straps out at the same time- not rocket scientry. Once the infant seat that locks into the base did break. The seat wouldn't unlock from the base and the plastic attached to the infant seat that locks on the base broke after we couldn't get them apart. When my husband used force to get them apart, that's when it broke. We didn't consider it a safety hazard, since the seat was still intact to the base, until we broke it. We returned it immediately to the store and they exchanged it for another. It has been 6 mos. now and no problems! Even though this happened, I would still recommend this seat;otherwise, I would have given this seat a rating of 5. She is very comfortable in it and it also rocks when you place it on the floor-very good for shopping with fussy baby.
Mother of Twins
We brought our twin girls home in these carseats when they weighed 5lbs10oz and 4lbs12oz. Our girls are 10 months old and are about 18lbs now. We have loved the seats from day one. Our girls still have plenty of room even though they are approaching the 20lb mark. I would definitely recommend these seats to anyone and especially to those of you who may be anticipating preemies. I felt like the girls were always safe in these seats and they love to ride in them in the car. I have the brekenridge print and although my girls have thrown up numerous times due to their acid reflux, the cloth on the seats are not stained and look as well as they did when they were brand new. The only thing I have not liked is that the straps sometimes get twisted around in the hole they come through from the back of the seat to the front. It's easy to fix the straps but a hassle when you've got two babies. However, I would assume this probably happens with all car seats.
