Customer Reviews of The Pagan Book of Days: A Guide to the Festivals, Traditions, and Sacred Days of the Year
Very very good . . . My copy is out of date, table wise (the 1993 edition), but I imagine the 2001 edition can only be better than the excellent one I possess. This 'book of days' is especially useful if you are compiling a book of shadows, because it's loaded with correspondences, old world adages, lunar phases, solar stations, and everything in between. Especially satisfying is the multitude of fascinating graphics (engravings, sketches, wood-block prints) from the medieval and classical era, some of them alchemical and cryptic in nature. What more could you expect? It's a total creative stimulant, fascinating and educational, and an excellent way to groom yourself for the pagan tide of festivals and 'sacred' days. Best of all, it's concise: there's no fluff or wasted space. I have no complaints--this is a valuable book for any occultist.
The Pagan Book of Days
I bought this book and I find it's very useful because I don't have to keep buying special Norse or Celtic calenders to observe all the major pagan holy days because it has all that in this book; plus every other holiday from everyone from the christians to the ancient Egyptians and modern new age religions like Wicca ect. Plus you can take it wherever you go so that you're never unsure about which sacred day it is.

A great mix for the beginner
Speaking as a beginner to wicca myself, i often get mixed up with moon days and calender days because often these things are in different books. happily, the pagan book of days solves a big chunk of that problem. it's all here -- everything a beginner and possibly a full time wiccian would need to keep track of the different festivals and sacred days that happen throughout the year. i could only wish the descriptions of each days were a little longer, but as some beginners (like me) have a short attention span and just want the facts, then thats pretty much for the best I'd say.
I'd also love to give a personal kudo's to the author, Nigel, for giving a short but sweet explanation on the moon phases, as well as the tides of day. all and all, a great resource for the novice who wants it all in one place and doesn't want to delve too deeply but wants a good overview of them all. (p.s: it's fluff free. enjoy)
