Great product! I already wrote a review of this fabulous gate--we have two! We did use these installation kits in order to appropriately install our gates in our kitchen doorways. It was very easy to do the initial installation and we have had no problems with temporarilty removing (and replacing) the kits and the gates in order to do some painting in the kitchen. <

>They seem quite sturdy and simply serve to "bump" the wall out a bit so that the bottom of the gate is pushed out beyond the wall's trimwork. You likely could achieve the same effect using some blocks of wood...but then it wouldn't look as pretty!
