temperature transparency This is a really classy thermometer meant to be mounted outside on a window. Its self-reset of min/max temp every 24 hours is good and bad. I would have liked to be able to control the period. I use it in a protected environment at work. Another unit I gave as a gift and it lasted six months outside - moisture intrusion and corrosion killed it. It is vulnerable so decide before you buy where you would like a very big thermometer. Good gift.
Spiffy, but inaccurate
A handsome window thermometer with a well thought-out feature set. Unfortunately, the temperature indication is grossly inaccurate, running as much as 5 deg below the actual temp when the actual temp, as measured by a laboratory quality mercury thermometer, is in the high 80's to low 90's.
