Great This is a great product. I had an Aroma Control before and made sure to buy another one. the timer is great, coffee is ready before I even get out of bed, I use only Starbucks ground coffee and it tastes like right from the store! <

1 year postmortem - It mostly worked...
I purchased this coffee maker after having a couple of cups at a friends house who had this exact model. The idea of being able to make a pot of coffee and it staying warm for hours without the flavor changing was the selling point for me. All in all, it was not a bad unit, it just has some fundamental design flaws...

<
>1) Coffee grounds basket does not always line up with the carafe. We found that if the grounds basket was not perfectly closed and the carafe was not perfectly aligned, the grounds basket would fill with water and not filter OR you would end up with water and coffee all over the counter. The solution was to firmly push the carafe into place. We could work with this, it was a user training issue.

>2) Hot water spout started leaking. We would make a pot of coffee and there would be more water on the counter than in the carafe. After taking the coffee maker apart, we found the molded plastic pieces that drip hot water in the grounds basket was coming apart because of the way it was made. This was fixed by using a soldering iron with a new tip and doing a little plastic welding.

>3) More leaking water. It looks like the coffee maker is once again leaking but I have not had the chance to take it apart to figure this one out. This time, it is leaking at the base so either there is a plastic molding problem with the water reservoir or with the heating element.

>4) Broken carafe. Be VERY careful with cleaning the carafe. My mom managed to shatter one by using cool (not warm enough) water to clean out the carafe after dumping an old, still hot, pot of coffee.

>5) The injection molded lid for the water reservoir was not made properly and therefore was never on the coffee maker for the 1+ year we owned it.

>Other than that, it made great coffee. I was really impressed with the carafe, it kept the coffee hot and fresh for hours. Enough with the fix-it yourself, some assembly required, it time for a new one.
Expensive mistake from Krups
I bought this coffee maker with great faith in the Krups name -- willing to order online without the "touch factor" -- I was sorely disappointed. WHile the concept seems promising, the actual product is a failure. The carafe is awkward and you have to fiddle with it every time to pour your coffee. And, the handle simply came off after just 6 months of normal use (a.m. coffee only). And there is no way to fix it as the bolts are lodged inside and can't be accessed. An expensive mistake and to think I'd looked to Krups to solve my problem of having to replace coffee makers every six months or so. Don't waste your money and I personally will avoid the Krups brand from now on.
