Fabulous and lovely crib set
After two babies and two primary-color-based nurseries, I went for what I wanted this time and the Silver Lining set was it! The photo doesn't do it justice-- the blue is more of a baby blue, not greyish, and the stars and crescent moons and clouds give it a gentle character. Very sturdily sewn, and it washed very well -- the padding stayed even throughout the comforter instead of bunching up at one end. The crib sheet can also be bought separately (I strongly recommend this!) and the entire set can be mixed and matched with Koala Baby sheets in solid yellows and blues. I also have the wall hanging, the mobile, the wallpaper border, and the valance, and together the nuresry looks wonderful. Definitely a great nursery set, for a boy or girl.

Nice crib set!
We bought this crib set, and I'm very happy with it. I just washed it today, and it came out beautifully, even the bumper and dust ruffle. It is very well-made, and very cute, too! It's also reasonably priced. It can be for either a boy or a girl (we are expecting a boy, but I wanted a neutral nursery, just in case we're surprised in the end), and I liked that it's not too "babyish" so we can use it for a good few years without getting tired of it. We also bought the matching valance and receiving blankets. One thing about it that I've noticed is that our crib set and valance don't have the navy blue stars, they only have the yellow and medium-blue stars, but the receiving blankets did have the navy stars. So if you decide to get this set, you may want to pay attention to see if you get one with the navy stars, if you want to get the matching valance and extra sheets and stuff. I didn't notice the difference in the store, but I'm pleased with the set anyway!

Waste of money and dangerous to boot
While I did purchase (and return) this bedding set, this review can be applied to the world of bedding sets in general.

For your money, you get a bumper pad (which SIDS experts now say shouldn't be used in a crib anyway); a quilt (about which experts say the same); a sheet (which is cute) and a dust ruffle (ditto). What this means is, half of your purchase is unusable from the start.

If you really want to use a bumper, it is better to use one with ties on the top and bottom - this set only has ties on the top, and the bumper sags somewhat into the crib. It is better, however, to skip the bumper altogether or, if you really fear your child getting his/her limbs stuck in the crib, to buy one of the breathable "bumpers" (crib shields) now available.

I first saw this set when I was pregnant. I loved it in the store. It was cute and, compared to other bedding sets, reasonably priced. But by the time I purchased it and set it up at home, I could not justify the expense. As I mentioned, the bumpers sagged inward. By that time, I had learned about bumpers being questionable and quilts being an all out no-no. As this seemed much too much money to spend for a sheet and dust ruffle, back to the store it went.

The bumper in this set is an absolute abomination. With bumpers, the risk is a small baby not getting enough air flow to breathe properly. In Europe, parents are told not to use them, and the message is slowly spreading to the US - many hospitals (including the one I gave birth at) now suggest parents do not use crib bumpers. The bumper provided with this crib is doubly dangerous - in addition to the lack of air flow associated with all bumpers, it sags and has ties only on the top, so that your child could concievably get caught up underneath the bumper. Skip it.
It is much better to have to extract a limb from the bars of the crib now and then than to extract a dead baby from the crib once and for all.

Crib bedding sets are very cute - but they are expensive and not very useful. You are better off buying a sheet, dust ruffle, and diaper stacker. (Or, as I ended up doing, buying a sheet and sewing up a dust ruffle and diaper stacker). You will still have a cute nursery - but it will cost you less money and be safer for your child.
