Customer Reviews of Kirby's Adventure
Must...play...Kirby... This game has revolutionized the platform game concept. It has taken the concept of pink vacuum cleaners and put it in with the Mario innovation (excuse my fancy lecture). Kirby is a mean, lean eating machine who can take the power of an enemy and make it his own by sucking it up. This is way cool but can make the game very easy at times. And, if you don't like your power, just let it go in one end and out the *other* end with the SELECT button. This game is fairly long and can be very frustrating at times (I've learned to just SUCK it up! Get it? Kirby SUCKS things up!) You can also fly by sucking in air and if you meet an enemy, just decompress it and you'll really BLOW him away! The final bossES (notice I emphasize ES) are extremely hard, too. All in all, this is a must have and is pretty darn good for an early 90s NES game.
Awesome game
Kirby's first outing (1992's Kirby's Adventure on the Game Boy) slid under most people's radars due to the fact that it was nothing too special. However, in 1993, a sequel was released for the NES - Kirby's Adventure. This is the game that would really launch the success of the puffy pink hero from Dream Land. Read on for my review.
Graphics: Very bright and colorful graphics. Many hardcore gamers may think the graphics are too cutesy, and pass the game by because of it. Don't make that mistake! 4/5
Play Control: Very similar to the first game on the Game Boy. The new abilities are very simple to use, too. 4/5
Challenge: This game ain't easy. Don't expect a free ride; many parts of this game will make you want to tear your hair out. 3.75/5
Theme/Fun: This is the game that really launched Kirby's success, and with good reason. It's at least six times longer than his first outing, and has a battery for saving! Any fan of adventure games would be doing a favor to themselves playing this game. 4.5/5
Sound/Music: Very "happy" sounds and tunes that suit the mood of the game perfectly. 3.75/5
Storyline: The evil king DeDeDe is back, and he's stolen the legendary Star Rod, the force that holds Dream Land together! That's what the story seems like at first, but it takes a major plot twist, one you wouldn't expect back in 1993... 4.5/5
Originality: The ability to steal the powers of your fallen foes is one of the greatest innovations to ever be featured in a video game. 4/5
Replay Value: The game has plenty of hidden areas, so you'll be playing it A LOT. 3.5/5
Overall Score: 4/5
This is arguably the finest adventure title on ANY system. It's possibly Kirby's best game, too. I highly recommend this game to any fan of adventure titles.
My favorite NES game.
Awesome game. 2D platformers just don't get any better than this. Kirby has the appearance of a cute little cream puff, but don't let it fool you: this guy's easily got more moves than Lara Croft. Kirby can absorb powers from enemies (or simply EAT them), slide, dive, fly, dash, and all sorts of other things. He can get everything from a sword to a laser, become a living tornado, and even drive his own UFO. The graphics are very colorful and vibrant, especially for an NES title, and the music is nice and upbeat and happy, just like the whole tone of this game. It looks a lot like a kids' game, but believe, anyone can have a lot of fun with this. It's even got secret modes to unlock by beating the game at 100%. There is really nothing bad that I can mention about this title. It's simply a must-have for any NES owner who likes platform games.
