Customer Reviews of Kid Icarus
One of the best! Kid Icarus is one of the best Nintendo games ever created. Even though it's horribly old, it's still a challenge and has a gaming strategy that was virtually non-existent in most other NES games.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who has never played it.
An NES classic
In the eighties, Nintendo released what was to be part of a two-part series: Kid Icarus. This was one of the earliest Nintendo games to use a password. Read on for my review of this NES classic.
THE GOOD:
As someone on a web site once put it, the game is like a cross between Zelda and Metroid. You play the role of a young angel whose land has been invaded by demons. THE TITLE CHARACTER'S NAME IS PIT, NOT KID ICARUS (I'm sure Captain N: The Game Master made a lot of people think differently, though.) As you progress through the game you can buy items using hearts you get from defeating enemies. It's a shame this game was only a two-part series, because it sure was fun.
THE BAD:
The major fault of this game is its stiff play control. YOU CANNOT CONTROL YOUR JUMPS IN MIDAIR. Likewise, you can't backtrack in the vertical stages. Fall down to where there appears to be no floor and you're dead. This makes the game highly unforgiving. The graphics aren't too great either, they're supbar even for the NES. Also, the passwords are an insanely long twenty-four digits! To make matters worse, the passwords use both upper and lower case letters, and O and 0, which are not interchangable (fortunately modern gaming has fixed this.) Though this is a good game there are better classic NES games.
OVERALL:
I DO recommend buying this game if you have an NES, but be warned - IT IS NOT EASY. If you decide to play it, I recommend playing it on an emulator so you can save your progress (and therefore don't have to bother with passwords.)
one of THE best.
quite possibly THE best game for the old 8-bit "antique" {can i say that}. geez i'm getting old. i remember craving an intelivision then atari then coleco {first to represnt the classic donkey kong i think} and then the C64 {man, lemmings was such an awsomly addictive game}. after all that came the all mighty 8-bit wonderland called "nintendo". "kid icarus" along with "metroid" where the two first games my parents graced me with WAY back in the day. O.K. i was going somewhere with this but i've lost my train of thought. ...oh, this game is old but it's still AWESOME.
