Customer Reviews of Key to My Kingdom
Can an Italian play the blues? Can an Italian play the blues? Well, my friends, accordingly with this CD the answer is YES HE CAN, and very well indeed I would say! Being Italian myself I could hardly believe to find an Italian guitarist album included in the Amazon blues catalogue. What a surprise! With the help of an all star band including vocalists Finis Tasby and James Harman, keyboards player Bruce Kats and guitarist Alex Schultz, our "hero" Enrico delivers a very strong set of great blues played as written in the sacred books with incredible feeling and a lot of passion. His guitar playing is outstanding throughout the album and most notably his technique, tone control and phrasing is just constantly marvellous. He reminds me very closely the great Ronnie Earl. If you add up the quality of the other members of the band you can easily figure out the final result: an outstanding 5 stars blues album that deserve all your attention. Pick it up and you wont be disappointed!
A Nice Debut Form Harman's Guitarist!
It has been sometime since I wrote a review mainly because I seem to have run across a load of releases that are not worth spending any time on but Enrico Crivellaro changed that quickly. This debut release is everything you could ask for. On the disc, Crivellaro covers a variety of artists from Percy Mayfield to Little Milton and from BB King to Ruth Brown and he does so admirably. Crivellaro is joined on vocals by Finis Tasby on most tracks although James Harman, in whose band Crivellaro got his start, makes a guest appearance on two others tracks. While Crivellaro was previously named as Swing Guitarist of the year, he leaves the swing out of this formula and opts instead for some shuffles and twelve bar blues with a hint of jazz. Good stuff.
