Customer Reviews of Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer (Mac)
Warning- won't run on iBook G3 Don't buy this game if you expect to install it and run it on a G3 iBook. It freezes up on the first frame and goes no further. An unhappy Christmas gift experience to be avoided. Although it says "designed for OS X", I don't think anyone at the company has actually tried it on a new computer. My son's 4 month old iBook exceeds all the requirements, but it sure doesn't work.
Demo rocks, but full game has been a long wait...
I've been playing the demo version of KSPS for mac on my 887mhz G4 powerbook 12" since it was released and am fully stoked. The gameplay tends to be smoother than the PS2 version and the graphics have more detail. I play with the PS2 Dual Shock controller plugged in via usb with an imported converter called the "PS-PC USB 2.0 Converter V," and it feels just like a console game.
Load times in the demo are fairly good, and as long as I don't turn on full anti-aliasing, the only lag during play is in the first second of the first wave.
If you are unfamiliar with the game: fans of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series will dig this water-based reincarnation. Surfers will surely enjoy this game, especially on flatter days... As for me (I also fit into the two above categories), this is one of the few video games that has next to no violence yet still sppeals to the above five crowd.
I've been waiting for this game since Aspyr said they were going to have it available in early June! A long wait, but well worth it.
