Customer Reviews of Karen Voight - Pure & Simple Stretch
You can stretch. The biggest problem I always had with all the stretch tapes I tried before is that none of them let you stretch long enough to get real benefit of stretching. Everbody seemed so busy to move onto the next position. It sometimes made me even wonder if those advanced exercisers really could stretch muscles in 3 seconds. But I COULD stretch and feel it with this tape. Every stretch is about 20-30 seconds long and this makes you feel really refreshed after done as well as you can learn which part of your body is better or worse. The other thing I love about this tape is that it is very easy to do. Karen doesn't frustrate me with unattainable range of motion or positions. Her cueing is excellent, her comments on how you should visualize or feel when doing certain stretches are very very helpful. I hope she will make another tape like this soon.
Stretching for anybody
I really like this video. I am very large so it is difficult for me to move around easily and quickly. Karen goes slow and has suggestions for making the stretch beneficial even if you aren't as flexible as you would like to be. I look forward to doing this tape because I feel great afterwards.
The vey best stretch tape
I have many stretch and yoga tapes but this one is the best of the lot. First of all, let me get the small criticisms out of the way. It's an older video so the costumes are dated and everyone looks made up. I think Karen was trying to create a calm, relaxing environment but overdid it. She seems terribly grim and I used to imagine that someone had died on the set and they hid the body just before the camera rolled! She also looks extremely thin and it's clear she's had some - umh - procedures since this tape was made - sorry for bringing this up - but it might be a shock to some fans of Karen's more recent tapes. My copy also has an anti-drug commerical at the beginning which I fast forward.
OK. Having said that, this is an excellent routine. The stretches are held for a long time, which gives the muscle time to relax into the stretch. And, this an important point that Karen seems to know - that muscles don't so much stretch as relax into elongation. The stretching sequences flow naturally and the entire body is stretched. If you don't like yoga but want a good stretch this is the tape for you. I've owned my tape for years and everytime I complete the routine, I'm amazed at how effective it is. If the somber atmosphere is a problem, you can always turn the sound down and play other music when you know the routine. I consider this the yoga tape for the non-yoga practitioner.
