Customer Reviews of Justice League - Star Crossed
Teamed in Battle The world's greatest heroes will face their toughest challenge yet in the exciting animated adventure "Justice League: Starcrossed". A powerful armada from Hawkgirl's home world Thanagar has captured the entire Justice League and seized complete control of the planet Earth. Now, Hawkgirl must choose between her loyalty to Thanagar or her strong friendship with the League and the people of Earth. "Starcrossed" is the first-rate three-part second season finale of the popular Cartoon Network adventure series. Its amusing story features interesting characters, great use of dialogue and a satisfying emotional finish. This solid animated adventure contains terrific comic book action and colorful animation. It also features the fine voice talents of Phil LaMarr (Samurai Jack), Maria Canals (The Proud Family), Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) and Carl Lumby (Alias).
If you're a fan of the Cartoon Network series, then "Justice League: Starcrossed" is a definite must-have DVD. Unlike the previous Justice League DVDs, the animated feature is presented in both full screen and 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen formats. The DVD contains a sharp video transfer and a great 2.0 Dolby Digital sound. Its supplemental features include the short "Hawkman: From Comics to Cartoon" featurette, deleted scenes, character biographies and an enjoyable tour of the Justice League Watchtower. With its pleasant viewing quality, "Starcrossed" earns a worthy "B+".
All good things...
Actually, Cartoon Network aired the episodes this Memorial Day weekend, but it was thought that episodes wouldn't air until after the DVD. These episodes were definitely worth the wait, because it's easily one of the most epic stories you'll find in superhero cartoons. While there's a lot of great fights scenes all over the three episodes, there's also a ton of wonderful character interaction, including a few scenes that totally change the status quo of the group forever.
The other reviewers have already given you a very good idea of the plot, where Hawkgirl's fellow Thanagarian soldiers arrive to help Earth against an alien invasion. I'm also going to add that Wonder Woman fans will want to check this one out, because the Amazing Amazon really shines here more than she normally does. The ending isn't really overhyped, because it definitely sets up the new Justice League Unlimited series quite nicely.
It was great on TV and I'm sure that it'll be great on DVD, espeically with all of the reported extras that are said to be added!
Good ending to current JL series!
I just saw this episode this past week and I have to say I LOVED IT! Quite a twist to the Hawkgirl/Green Lantern romance to reveal that she was engaged to one of the Hawkmen! Also, seeing BatMan openly reveal some of his secrets to the JL was also surprising. I hope the next version goes deeper into the relationships as well as the action (particularly the budding relationship between BatMan & Wonder Woman).
While it may or may not be the best episode for JL (that's a debatable point), its definitely top 10 material. Would love if Warner would release all the episodes from this series as they are starting to do with BatMan: The Animated Series! Worth the buy!
