Customer Reviews of Just Me And My Dad
Just A Funny Video What could be better than a Little Critter book? A Little Critter movie! Too bad this is the only L. C. video Mercer Mayer produced. We own several books of this series. It was fun to hear an actual voice for Little Critter and Little Sister. The infamous pet spider, grasshopper, and mouse stay silent, but are every bit as comical as in the books. Other enhancements that are not in the 1977 printed version include:
1. Little Sister steals her big brother's hiking boots because she wants to go camping, too.
2. The recurring theme of the Legend of Big Paw, told by L. S. to scare her brother.
3. Crows bend the road signs and snicker because L.C. and Dad get lost.
4. L.C. sings! Song #1 as he looks for firewood. Song #2 as he tells Dad scary story around campfire.
5. A few moments of suspense during the camping trip, but I won't reveal any details so as not to spoil them for you!
There is even an underlying message to kids that is not too preachy or heavy-handed: DON'T MESS WITH THE ANIMALS OF THE FOREST. "Remember, this is their home and we are their guests," Dad tells L.C. You will enjoy this video whether you are a Little Critter fan or not.
From the voice of Little Critter...
I suppose giving this video a 5-star is rather vain, but I might as well. Back when I was in Kindergarten, I got the part of playing the voice of the main character, Little Critter. I didn't really understand the significance of this until I got older. Now, I'm well into my high school career (the video was released some time in between '93-'94, when I was in third grade or so). I own several copies and have watched it many times. It's a piece of nostalgia for me and it holds a special place in my heart. I hope you enjoy it.
