Cute blanket but washed horrible Before my little one was able to use this blanket it looked like it had been through years of use. I washed it in the gentle cycle using special baby detergent and still this blanket came out looking terrible! The outer yellow ribbon was hard and stiff and the blanket itself shrank and piled up on me. This blanket goes with the rest of my crib set and it's too bad the quality was so poor. This blanket looks as if I purchased it at a yard sale......I wish I had instead of paying the new price for it.
Wash and wash and wash... you won't be sorry!
We have 3 of these and I've never regretted buying them! I wanted to make sure we could swap out his "lovie" if it needed to be washed so when I found three of them, I snapped them up.
I washed them right away, when my son was but a few weeks old, and the same thing happened that most of these reviews mention... it pilled up and was very stiff. Because I knew it would be awhile before he actually used it, I washed it with each load of his laundry I did. By about the 10th washing, it was nicely pliable and most of the pills were gone. By the 20th, it was as soft and pill-free.
By 18 months, my son could not sleep without his "bankie" and now, at age 4, we've lost one, one needs the satin sewn back on (he holds it with his finger twisted in the corners) and one is in always on his bed or in his arms downstairs. I was just holding his bankie this evening, amazed at how soft it was and wondering if I can make a pillow out of the one that needs repairs. Hmmm...
Don't give up on it! Take it out from under the mattress or changing table! Wash it with every load of the baby's laundry. You'll be amazed!!

OH! - How dissapointing... The entire nursery is J.L. and this item is the only one that simply didn't work out. I should have known when I felt the blanket to begin with. I was filled with the overwhelming desire to "have things match." It pills after it's washed and feels like old felt. I actually keep it under the changing pad on the changing table and allow the satin edge hang down as a decoration.
