Customer Reviews of Jenny Lind - Crib - Oak
Nice Inexpensive Crib We bought this crib for our son's nursery, along with the matching dresser & changing table. We looked for MONTHS at all different types of cribs (used & new) before finally choosing this one. We were willing to spend several hundred dollars on a more expensive crib and dresser. But I have to tell you, after looking at other cribs, their prices and considering how long the crib would be used we decided to go ahead and purchase the "cheap" jenny lind in oak. We took the money that we saved and put it toward all the other million things a newborn baby needs. The crib was relatively easy to put together (at least my husband didn't seem frustrated when he was doing it). The entire set appears to be fairly sturdy. It's not the crib of my dreams, but I'm very pleased with it. It's cute and I don't think it looks cheap at all. When you walk into the nursery it's so nice to enter into this little "baby world" where everything is sweet and it all matches - crib, furniture, bedding, wall decorations, lamps etc. ... Overall, I think that if you are looking for a solid crib and nursery furniture for a very LOW price this is IT! If you're looking for an heirloom piece that you can pass down or a piece that is made of solid maple that your child can swing on until they're 12, well, this is not the set for you.
Legs get stuck
I have had this crib for 3 years and 2 children. Both of which have gotten their knees stuck through the slat which lead to a cutting off all blood flow to the lower leg. Luckily my first child didn't do that again but my second child has done it 3 times. I have had to call for help and use lubricant to release the leg, which I rescued in time before dead tissue. This crib is not appropriate for infants learning how to stand and kneel. I suspect that the entire slat width is inappropriate. I am now shopping for a new crib. My youngest is sleeping in her portable crib. Also, the squeak from raising the guard rail up and down is unbelievable. Even with lubricant it is still audible, I don't want to put to much on so that my child doesn't get sick.
Never had a problem!
I have read many of the reviews and I have to admit that I've not had a problem out of my crib. It has been used for about 3 years straight with 2 children. I also like the fact that a conversion kit is available to transform it to a toddler bed. That's actually what I'm online doing at the moment is looking for the conversion!
The side rail is extremely easy to use and I can use just one foot to lower it, and if I keep the bar pushed and lift the edge up, I can lock it up as well without making a noise, which was extremely important to me when laying down a baby who was asleep.
